Brits ‘love Rio de Janeiro’

Rio de Janeiro is an excellent holiday destination for people from the UK to head this year, one author has said.

Romasa Storey, who has written a book called Live and Work in Brazil, said that Rio has always been popular with holidaymakers thanks to the fact that it offers plenty to do.

“For anyone new to Brazil, the state of Rio is attractive because you have the intricacies of Rio to hand,” she pointed out.

People lucky enough to be going to Brazil in time for the Rio Carnival this month may find they get more for their money than they may have done this time last year.

Research from Halifax Financial Services found that the pound purchased 15 per cent more Brazilian Real in December than it did in June 2008.

The Rio Carnival begins on February 22nd this year and culminates in a spectacular Samba Parade which the majority of the country takes part in.

Meanwhile, Ms Storey also recommended that Sao Cristovoa in the north-east of Brazil is well worth a visit

“People should come and have a look. It is a great place to come … and it isn’t as expensive as it once was to fly to Brazil,” she concluded.
