Starring Israeli actress Gal Gadot as the main character, the film is set in the World War I period when the Amazonian protagonist leaves her tranquil, women-only island to help an American pilot. Shot across Italy, England, and France, you can now also visit these filming locations. If you are curious to find out exactly where all that superb scenery can be found, then continue reading our Guide!

  • Palinuro, Italy

Themyscira, the home island of our heroine, Diane Prince, was filmed on a variety of Italian beaches and coasts in Campania. The beach pictured here can be found near Palinuro. The beaches in the Palinuro area are renowned for their crystal clear, clean waters.

  • Castel del Monte, Italy

Castel del Monte - pictorial hilltop village in Abruzzo, Italy

Before sailing with the American pilot to lend a hand in WWI, Diane steals the God Killer – the Amazonian legendary sword from the DC Universe comics. Built in the 13th century, the castle is of deep symbolic significance. This is echoed in the position, mathematical and astronomical precision of the layout, as well as the perfectly regular shape. A unique piece of medieval construction, Castel del Monte perfectly balances elements from classical antiquity, the Islamic Orient and north European Cistercian Gothic.

  • Matera, Italy

Matera, an iconic and historic town in Italy served as another location for the Amazonian island of Themyscira. Although the UNESCO heritage town is not largely visited by foreign tourists at the moment, it is definitely one of the most unusual and memorable tourist destinations in Italy, due to its centuries old cave-houses.

  • Arundel Castle, Sussex, England

The Wonder Woman cast and crew also filmed at this superb restored medieval castle. The remodelled Arundel Castle was used in Wonder Woman as the German-controlled castle. If you watched the film, you might remember it from the scenes where the group sneaked into the ball and our heroine met Ludendorff for the first time.  Entry tickets for this beautiful castle start at just £11.

  • The Louvre, Paris, France

‘She’ll always have Paris’.  If you need an excuse for visiting the city of Romance, we’re glad to let you know the Louvre in Paris is also part of Marvel’s superhero film. Wonder Woman’s mortal alter-ego, Diane Prince, worked at the encyclopedic Parisian museum as an ancient weapons expert.
