Mauritius ‘just like heaven’

Anyone about to book their holidays in Mauritius is likely to be pleased with a recent review of the island by a travel writer, who likened it to paradise.

Jasper Gerard, writing for the Telegraph, said he recently headed out with his wife and young children in tow and found Mauritius to be accommodating, beautiful and diverse.

He said that the people are unfailingly polite, even though mostly everyone is of a different nationality to each other – but that they are all bound by a common love of English football.

Mr Gerard also remarked that the island offers a number of different things to see and do.

“Who cannot be captivated by a sign for a crocodile farm, or by a mongoose sauntering across the road? Or by the intrigue of place names such as Gris-Gris, voodoo for “sinister magic”?,” he asks.

The Gerard family participated in plenty of sunbathing, swimming and eating at their luxury hotel, while the children were also entertained at the kids’ club.

In short, he concluded, it was the perfect family holiday.

According to Discover Mauritius, the temperature on the island is likely to be around 22 degrees C in winter.
