Oman named in next year’s top ten

The United Arab Emirate of Oman has been named among next year’s top ten destinations for holidays by a leading travel information portal.

Dubai’s lesser-known neighbour made the Best in Travel 2009 list as compiled by Lonely Planet, which highlighted it as a great alternative for people who want a less touristy holiday and for those who want to participate in eco-tourism.

“[Oman is] a safe, modern travel destination, combining the traditional values of an ancient and rich civilisation with the attractions of up-to-date luxury,” said Usama bin Karim Al Haremi, head of corporate communications and media of Oman Air.

Vogue magazine also recently singled out Oman for praise, thanks to its striking desert scenery and its cultural heritage.

Destination Oman suggests that the best time to go to the country is between October and April, when the weather is pleasantly warm but not too hot in the day and cool in the evening.

Holidaysplease.co.uk offers a number of holidays to Oman, which it recommends as a good destination for families and adventurous couples alike.

It also suggests that travellers try scuba diving in the warn waters of the Arabian Gulf, where lucky participants are sometimes joined by dolphins.
