St Lucia scoops honeymoon destination award

The Caribbean island of St Lucia has received an award for being voted the best honeymoon location for 2008.

The island received the accolade at the World Travel Awards, which are voted for by travel professionals and are seen as the equivalent of the Oscars for their industry.

Debbie Melchor from the St Lucia Tourist Board said she was thrilled to have won the award for 2008, which is the eighth year in a row that it has gone to the island.

“St Lucia has long been recognised as one of the most stunning islands in the world and every year we’re ensuring we meet the needs of our holidaymakers whilst remaining true to the beauty of the island,” she commented.

Indeed, St Lucia would be a great place to go for the most romantic holiday of your life – it boasts rainforests, beaches, clear water, golden sand and lively resorts that would surely appeal to any bride and groom.

There is also accommodation to suit all budgets, from five-star resorts to all-inclusive hotels.

However, not leaving out the other Caribbean islands for their honeymoon suitability, there is also Antigua, which the Toronto Star recommends for its Mamora Bay Divers scuba centre, which opened last year.
