Amanda Holden chooses Maldives for luxury honeymoon

Amanda Holden has been pictured leaving the chilly UK for a luxury honeymoon in the Maldives.

Although the 37-year-old actress actually got married three weeks ago, prior commitments meant that she and her new husband Chris Hughes were unable to escape earlier, the Mirror reports.

The loved-up couple are heading to a £2,000-a-night health spa, where they will be waited on hand and foot in the sunshine – jealous? Us?!

Holden is not alone in choosing a beach holiday for a honeymoon – according to a recent Cost of Love survey carried out by the Age magazine, over half of couples do.

Meanwhile, new research from Travelzoo has revealed Britain’s travel plans for 2009 and it seems many people are keen to get away on holiday as soon as possible.

The average Brit aims to book their holiday three months in advance of travelling and a whopping 95 per cent of people aim to get away between now and June.

A further 35 per cent said they hope to take at least two holidays for pleasure in that same timeframe.

The amount to be spent per trip averaged out at £478 per person for those in the UK.
