34 ‘the best age for a holiday’

How old were you when you had your best holiday? Well, if a recent study is anything to go by, you would have been 34.

A poll carried out by Kuoni asked people to tell them about their favourite trip via a written review. The company then looked at their ages and came up with 34 as being the age when people were most likely to have had a great time.

Martin Conway, an expert on memory from the University of Leeds, said this is because 34 is when many people will be thinking about “nesting”.

“They are either likely to be enjoying those last holidays without children or perhaps taking their young children on a first holiday abroad,” he pointed out.

One respondent spoke about a holiday she had particularly enjoyed in India – she spent time travelling through the country on buses, boats and on elephants and said it was thrilling.

Meanwhile, another said her best holiday was in the Maldives.

This is not surprising – the Maldives are renowned for being one of the most luxurious destinations on earth, making it perfect for a dream holiday or honeymoon.

There are over a thousand small coral islands with idyllic white sandy beaches.
