Thousands use the snow day to book holidays

What did you do yesterday? Go to work – or make the most of a snow day be booking your holidays?

According to the discount site, plenty o people did exactly that on Monday (February 2nd).

As snow affected the capital and moved up to the north – the most widespread snowfall in 18 years, the Met Office said – hundreds of schools were closed and one in five employees did not turn up for work.

However, the extra time meant they had plenty of time to browse the internet. said it saw sales 392 per cent higher than they would normally have been on a Monday morning in winter, edging closer to the volumes normally seen at Christmas.

Holidays were one of the top items on the impulse shoppers’ lists too – perhaps as a result of people getting fed up of the white stuff and wanting to make their dreams of sunnier climes a reality.

Mark Pearson, managing director of the company, said: “Online shopping has snowballed because it can in no way be affected by the adverse weather conditions.”
