Independent or Multiple…?

There are two main types of travel agents; independent and multiple. Independent agents – such as ourselves can tailor make deals to suit customers’ needs. Multiples are vertically integrated, who can only sell the products that they provide. This means that when you pop into a multiple to book your holiday, you won’t be necessarily getting the best deal, or exactly what you want.

Independent travel agents on the other hand have much more freedom; being able to use any supplier, allowing them to get customers the best deals and exactly what they are looking for…usually providing a higher quality holiday.

I have spoken to several of our home workers who have worked in both areas and the feedback is generally that they found it limiting and frustrating when working for multiple companies as you can’t always give the customer what they want.

What are your thoughts on this? Is it better to book with an Independent agent or a Multiple…?
