For The Love Of Food (Holidays)

Culinary holiday experiences are beginning to take over the world, and if you’re anything like me then it might even define your next holiday destination. We are blessed with different cultures offering different dining experiences,  and mouth-watering holidays can be just a few clicks away.

This blog was inspired by a recent request for unique ‘foodie holidays’ and the great response from our homeworking team and followers on Facebook. In a tribute to the excellent suggestions, here are some of the best from our team/followers.

Hotel Chocolat, St Lucia

Holidaysplease Debbie stayed at the Hotel Chocolat in St Lucia and was blown away by her experience. She quotes ‘amazing restaurant everything on menu contains some part of coaco bean as do all the spa treatments’

At present the hotel has just 14 rooms, 6 lodges with open air rainwater showers and 8 luxury lodges. It’s set a little higher into the rain-forest to catch the sea breezes. The property is an eco-hotel and so does not have air conditioning. It is contemporary and fits perfectly into its surroundings.

One and Only Royal Mirage, Cape Town

Sean has suggested the One&Only Royal Mirage Cape Town and the option of dinner at the former Michelin 3 star La Colombe. The stunning La Colombe held Michelin 3 stars in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Maybe combining a stay in Cape Town with a safari or Dubai trip would also be an amazing option.

The Cablash, Grenada.

Kevin pointed me in the direction of a website and I found this amazing place called The Cablash hotel in Grenada. The whole menu has been created by award winning chef Gary Rhodes. All the ingredients are caught locally and the menu is hugely diverse. So how about going all-inclusive with Gary Rhodes?

The Royal Palm, Mauritius.

Sonia sent me an interesting article on the Royal Palm and it’s resident chef Michel De Matteis. The Chef is highly sought after in the culinary world and is treating guests at the Royal palm to international cuisine infused with Mauritian flare. Using only the finest ingredients and fresh, regional products to create specialties like his gourmet creoles.

Hacienda Des Anantonio, Mexico.

Here’s my offering into the mix – After doing some research, one of the most buzzed about food holidays was found in Hacienda. Offering a variety of gourmet food in different settings, the Hacienda is one of the top ranked food holidays on tripadvisor.

China Tours

A few suggestions filtered through via facebook and Davina’s excellent suggestion was Sensatori holidays. Lawrence suggested one of the worlds finest culinary hotspots in China. China is one of the leaders in gourmet excellence and has an array of options when choosing your food holiday.

Michelin 3 Star Gourmet Holiday

What food holiday blog would be complete with the ultimate food holiday?! Our very own Michelin 3 star holiday is the most extravagant food holiday every produced. Visiting 108 restaurants taking you across Europe, Asia and the USA, this holiday may cost £180,000 per couple, but it’s a once in a life time trip and the king of the food holidays.
